Custom Aluminium Sections
Bespoke structural & trim sections, extruded to your exact drawing.
Aluminium H, Z, I, L and J sections are the backbone of countless structural, framing and trim applications. We tool a custom die and extrude your section to the precise dimensions, alloy and finish your project needs. We can also produce standard stock lengths for orders of 250kg or above, though we don’t stock standard lengths for one-off quantities.

FAQs
H, Z, I, L & J Sections, Made to Your Spec
Every section below is extruded bespoke from your drawing. Here’s where each profile typically earns its place, and the alloys we’d usually recommend.
H-Section
Twin-flanged sections for structural spans, partitions and division bars. Typically 6082 or 6005 where load-bearing strength matters.
I-Section / Beam
Classic beam profile for structural support and framing where bending strength is the priority. Usually 6082-T6.
Z-Section
Offset flanges for purlins, flashings, edge trims and interlocking panels. 6063 for finish, 6082 where strength counts.
L-Section / Angle
Equal and unequal angles for brackets, frames, edging and corner protection. 6063 anodising-quality or 6082 structural.
J-Section
Hooked profile for capping, retaining edges, glazing and trim details. Usually 6063 for the best surface finish.
Matching an Existing Section?
Existing or discontinued profiles reproduced from a sample or drawing, in non-standard sizes and envelopes.

Grades & Specs for Aluminium Sections
The right alloy depends on whether your section is structural or decorative. Here’s how we’d typically guide a section project, and we’ll always advise on the best choice for yours.
-
6063 (T6 / T4): Finish & Trim Sections
The go-to alloy where surface finish and anodising quality matter. T6 for general use, T4 where the section needs bending.
Best for: Flashings, edge trims, capping, decorative sections.
-
6082 / 6005: Structural Sections
Higher-strength structural alloys for load-bearing sections, beams and frames. 6005 keeps a better anodising finish than 6082 where appearance also counts.
Best for: Structural sections, beams, machine frames, spans.
-
Tolerances & Standards
Sections produced to BS EN 755-9 and BS EN 12020-2 dimensional tolerances, under our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.
-
Non-Standard Sizes & Matching
Need a size you can’t buy off the shelf, or an existing or discontinued section matched? That’s exactly what our bespoke aluminium extrusion service delivers. Send a sample or drawing and we’ll reproduce it.
Finishing Available
The finish you choose impacts the performance, appearance and longevity of your profile. We manage the entire finishing process through our trusted network of specialist partners.
Mill Finish
The raw, as-extruded surface, the standard starting point.
Anodising
A hard, integral protective layer in natural silver, black & more.
Powder Coating
Durable decorative finish in any RAL or BS colour.
Polishing
Bright, reflective surface, often followed by anodising.
Linishing / Brushed Finish
A uniform, directional brushed texture.
Lacquering
A hard, clear protective coat over the aluminium.
Aqua Blast / Sand Blast
A uniform matt texture that removes die lines.
Wood Grain
A specialist finish simulating the appearance of wood.
Our Extrusion Process
Every project follows a clear, structured process, from the first drawing review through to finishing and delivery. The bespoke element runs through every step.
Step 1 - CAD Design & Consultancy
We review your drawing — ideally a 2D DXF or DWG file — and assess it for extrudability. We will advise on any modifications needed to ensure the profile can be successfully extruded and to minimise the cost of the die.
This step is critical: a well-designed profile reduces die costs, speeds up production, and avoids costly problems further down the line.
Step 2 - Die Development
Once the design is approved, the extrusion die is manufactured by our trusted mill partners. The die is guaranteed for life — as long as you continue to use it, any replacement is covered at no cost to you. Before full production begins, a sample is produced for approval.
Step 3 - Extrusion
The approved profile is extruded at the mill. We work with a carefully selected network of UK and European extrusion mills to ensure the best quality and lead times for your project.
Step 4 - Fabrication & Machining
If your profile requires further processing — cutting to length, drilling, milling, tapping, or more complex machining — we handle this inhouse using our Elumatec SBZ 140 and Haas Super Mini Mill. For specialist processes such as CNC lathing or welding, we work with our trusted subcontractors.

Aluminium Sections FAQs
Some of the questions we’re most commonly asked about custom aluminium sections. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, our team is always happy to help.
-
Can you match an existing or discontinued section?
Yes. Send us a sample or a drawing and we’ll review it, tool a die and reproduce the section, ideal when an original supplier has discontinued a profile you still need.
-
Do you offer non-standard sizes?
That’s the whole point of a bespoke extrusion. We make the section to your dimensions rather than limiting you to stock sizes.
-
Which alloy should I use for a structural section?
Usually 6082-T6 for strength. If appearance also matters, 6005 keeps a better anodising finish. We’ll advise based on your loads and finish requirements.
-
What's the largest section you can extrude?
It depends on the press circle and the profile’s envelope. Send your drawing and we’ll confirm feasibility and recommend the best approach.
-
Can sections be anodised or powder coated?
Yes, we manage the full finishing process, from anodising and powder coating to polishing and brushed finishes, through our trusted specialist partners.
